Triund trek is one of the shortest trekking trails in Himachal Pradesh
Triund trek is one of the shortest trekking trails in Himachal Pradesh, nearly 10 km walk from northeast of McLeodganj.
Triund trek provides a panoramic view of Kangra valley and the plains of Punjab. The magnificent Dhauladhar stands to the north, while the wide valley expanse is on the southern side.
A well-defined uphill trek leads you to Triund from McLeodganj. En route, you cross Dharamkot village (2100m), and this trail meets the other trails originating from Rawa, Dal Lake, and Bhagsu meet at Galu Devi (2310m). There is small temple, a tea shop and water point at Galu Devi.
Triund offers breathtaking and spectacular views of the surrounding picturesque area. To the north is the majestic Dhauladhar range with peak of Mun, Slabd, Rifle Horn, and Aurther Seat. And, when the night approaches and stars start twinkling, the whole aura of the location changes and the experience is blissful.
The shimmering light of the valley below is a sight to behold. The snow line of Ilaqa Got is just a 5-km walk from Triund. This destination is an ideal spot for avid bird watchers.
In Triund, there is a forest-house on a secondary ridge of Dhauladhar. To stay here in the rest house, you need prior permit and advance bookings from Dharamsala. You can also use the rock shelters to relax. Grassy verdant meadows offer ample space to pitch your tent.
